The 72 Microseasons are the heart of a traditional Japanese calendar which divides the year into 72 individually-named seasons. The name of each season is something unique about the nature in Japan at that moment in the year.
By moving their cursor around, the viewer can see an English translation of the current micro season and the phonetic pronunciation of the Japanese name for that microseason.

The artist hopes that the minimalism of the site imparts web “surfers” with an increased awareness of the natural world.
